THE BOOK

A New Day at Midnight

When Merik Hearne finally lays claim to the woman that betrayed him, she inspires much more than his need for revenge—but is her love worth dying for again?

The Characters

“You are an interesting woman, Hannah.” His voice was deep and warm, his breath cool over her face. His gaze travelled from her eyes to her throat, caressing her skin as firmly as a physical touch. He released her wrists but not his weight upon her, trailing his fingers from her bare throat to her thinly covered hips. Lowering his head, his lips travelled to the tender flesh his fingertips so recently explored.

“You decided the clothing I chose for you is not so unappealing after all? This dress is perfect for you.” The low words rumbled over the delicate skin of her throat, and the simple vibration heated her entire body. She ran the length of his muscled back while her head swam in the sensations he left behind, right up until what he said actually sank in.

“You?” Surprise overtook her general sense of displacement. “I assumed Anya picked them out.”

“Mere details, Hannah.” The silk of his shirt was cool against her palms; his black eyes mesmerizing as they held her own, so close she could see flecks of warm gold in the ebony. Her body yielded without the consent of her mind. No man ever looked at Hannah Marie Worthington the way Merik looked at her now, and it was almost more than she could bear. Almost.
